It is difficult to decide what is best to teach but this article reminded me of the students I teach. I work in the Occupational Course of Study program at West Wilkes High School. We teach life skills and help students optain paid employment. Our goal is to help them become self sufficient in society. Saying this, I believe one curriculum is not right for everyone. I guess that is why we have different tracks for high school graduation. I feel we should challenge our students but not all can learn the same curriculum so I feel these different tracks are great. The students I work with have IQ's around 70 and would be set for failure in other curriculums but are doing great in the OCS program. :D

I think the different tracks do work well with high school students because by the time students are in high school they are on so many different levels. Students also get to make the decissions of which career path they want to take and they will more than likely strive to do better in school.
