I find the kind of teaching Bill Bigelow gives to his students is something every teacher should look to and strive to accomplish. It is amazing that what your students can learn through interaction and not just lecture. I feel that to get the students involved and thinking on a high more analytical level is what we as teachers need to work hard to achieve. through his teaching strategy he allowed his students to analize and compare and to see things from other peoples points of view without criticizing. It is important that our students learn to think for them selves and not have to be told what or how to do an assignment giving. Yes of course it is important for the kids to retain the knowledge but they will do it better if it is given to them in an approachable way, and by allowing research, interaction and discussion the students are able to be more open-minded and independent in their thought process.
