I think it is so sad that the little boy wanted to cut his hair to try to fit in with the other students. It is amazing what a child will do to fit in. The father brought up good points to teacher about assuming that the child was a slow learner. The child has already experienced so much in his 5 years. If I were the teacher I would try to use the boy as an educational tool for the other students. Through this child's experiences other children could learn about the Native American culture. Also other white or black children may have experiences that they have encountered that would educate students more about their culture. i think we need to think of all children as individuals and not assume their culture is the same, even if they are the same color.
