If you could be in complete control over a school- what kind of curriculum would you choose for your students? Curriculums based on Social Efficiency, Human Development, and Social Meliorism were all discussed in "Three Currents of American Curriculum Thought"-Kliebard p.75.

Is character education important?
Would you give students the opportunity to take a variety of arts, technical, and vocational courses? or would you focus more on traditional classes-math,science, english, and history?

Can schools be effective instruments of social and moral reform?

If I had complete control over a curriculm, I would combine social efficiency, human development, and social meliorism. I believe society needs to engulf all three currents in education today. Why? Because it is important for students to build connections between classroom and real life. It also is important to look at education through devolmental stages beacuse learning occurs in some natural order. However equally important is for students to make sense and derive meaning to learning as well as life. There for a three ingredient mix is necessary for an effective curriculm.

i think the schools should integrate art, technical, vocational, and the traditional class  i was under the block schedule in high school which most, if not all, high schools have gone to and in my experience of these classes we didn't seem to cover that much more content than we did in middle school  in this format one can only take eight classes per year :!: i think that the high school curriculum would be much more complete if they went to six or seven periods per day and more variety in class selection for all students 8)
