When describing the differences in lower income and higher income classes, the difference was huge. Whether teachers realize that they were teaching towards social class or not was the most confusing thing of all. The children that are likely to have the least academic support outside of school are the ones that receive the least academic support inside the school. This should be opposite, the children that do not have access to the lifestyle that is set up for success and the resources that money can buy should have positive interaction and experiences in school. Another thing that I wonder about is how the teachers begin to treat students so differently. Do they simply have different support systems and attitudes within the school? Does it have something to do with the way that they were raised? Do teachers with a wealthier background teach at the wealthier schools and do teachers with a poorer background teach at the poorer schools? Also, how much influence does the status of parents have in the quality of school?
