As we all know, the media plays with our minds daily. It happens with every news broadcast every night. CNN vs Fox News.. etc etc... The recent presidential speech/conference was great... for the most part. The president spoke on what he wanted to in his speech, then answered every question with his OWN answer. The thing that did irritate me was the media only wanted to find his faults. The never asked how he has been able to keep terrorist off of planes since 911, but instead, mistakes he made before that, and also dealing w/ IRAQ. Yes I'm Republican and support Bush, but that doesn't even matter. The media promotes such negative views, what do we think we r always going to look for, much less our future students. Negativity is common and neccessary as I stated in the negative compaigning topic... but so are positive attributes. Where are they??...MEDIA!!!!!!?? give some examples that you have seen, and your opinion

Remember, the media is much larger than the White House press corp. Do your own research: http://gayleturner.net/democracy.html
Listen to the 9/11 Commission hearings on CSPANN, instead of the edited version you get on FOX, CNN, etc.
Listen for free to the testimony of:
Condoleeza Rice: http://www.audible.com/adbl/entry/landi ... DBL_040408
Richard Clarke: http://www.audible.com/adbl/entry/landi ... BL_040324e
Or, go to audible.com and hear ALL the testimony for free.

Gayle excellent answer. However we are dealing with average american youth who are not going to spend there time whatching the long broadcasts or do their own research. We are lucky if we can even get them to whatch a whol segmant of the news. Most youth including college students don't care that much about what is going on. Most of their information comes for the 2 minute sound bite of news that comes on MTV twice an hour. And that is not even rel news its main focus is wht is going on with the music industry. What can we do to help educate our students about the media and how things are portrade on the news? Just a question for thought. Give me your ideas.
