I don’t know about anybody else, but it really bothers me that it is typically harder to get a teaching job if you have visible tattoos and/or peircings. I just thought I’d see if anybody has heard much about any schools that aren’t as strict about that, or have any thoughts about that…or think that maybe a day is coming where that will change? It just seems very silly to me that teachers are acknowledged to come from all walks of life now…but can’t have any visible tattoos or peircings.

I totally agree with you. I have my tongue peirced and my dad keeps telling me that i need to take that out before i start student teaching. I never have understood why its such a big deal. I was my choice to get it done and i love it. I'm not about to take it out just because a few people may not like it. It doesn't put a sign on my face saying that i'm a crappy teacher or role model because i have my tongue peirced. When i worked at day camp, the kids were always asking me about it, but they never looked down on me or wanted to go out and get their tongues peirced. I hope society does change so it will be more acceptable.
