While reading the articles I was shocked at the number of Times I read the same thing. Tracking does not help the higher level student to excell and it does infact help the lower level student to degress. So with this in mind why in the world does tracking still exsist in our school systems today. What did appear to be a better solution was having a mixed class. All students got to get to know someone new and they learned how to better work with people less like them. On top of that it did nothing harmful to the students already on top and it only helped the lower level students feel better about themselves personally and academicly. So if this is so clear to see according to researcher why do we still see tracking today?

I think tracking still exists beacuse there is still the mindset that students who are high achievers will do better with other high achievers and the "low" achievers would only slow the high achievers down. Another reason may be that a lot of 'tacking policy' was established in earlier decades and the school system has continued to use it out of simplicity.
