I had the privilege of taking a Native American Cultures Anthropology class. The books we read were very informative on Native American culture and the trials and struggles that they have had to endure. I suggest that everybody read them. Especially if you want to teach students the truth about Native Americans.
"Native Nations: Cultures and Histories fo Native North America" by Nancy Bonvillain- This book describes the many different types of Native Americans and some shocking statistics on their population numbers over time.
"Native American Voices" by Susan Lobo and Steve Talbot- This is a collection of work, from testimonies, poetry, oral history, songs, and scholarly articles. This was the most interesting to read in my opinion, it shocked me to read how terrible Native Americans have been treated throughout history.
Hope you might have the opportunity to read these books one day.

Thankyou Michelle,
Might I also suggest Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee.

Jerry,
Great suggestion! I read that one in high school, and cried.
