Rachel got what she wanted, even if it took several marriages. She became an independent woman with pleny of mirrors to enjoy. That was one thing from America that she took and kept with her always, even when they were fleeing from the ants, she went back and got her mirror. Each of them basically remained the same personality as they did when they were children. Rachel just existed in (America in heart and mind), and carried those ideas with her, and many of them remained. Perhaps, it was because she was the oldest. It really surprised me that she stayed in Africa. She did make some good points as to what she may have found in America. She was established in Africa, and did have something to lose if she had returned at that time. Adah still loved poetry, even when she tells her view of how things were, she used very poetic and flowery language. Leah always loved a challenge, and was competitive. In each of the girls adult life, these same traits were there. The ("t" or "T") from childhood may linger (pre-bias ideas) for a life time. Seems like at the beginning of the semester there was some discussion about (pre-biases) when we discussed Cedric's story. (???) Um.....maybe there are all kinds of connections with the reads. I saw several in the philisophical papers. I shall look back and see those, and come back to the post. (smile)
