Hi Everyone,
I believe I saw several connections in all the readings. Each of the novels and the other readings have evidence of "t" and "T". It has been interesing to see those connections, and decide which truth we carry to our classrooms. One thing for sure, we have had a large spectrum to base our analysis on. I think all and all, this course has cause me to do a lot of serious thinking about who I am as an educator, and what is most important for the children that I teach. It's a really big job educating other people's children. To find that right way to get knowledge across is very complex, especially if we democratically try to educate. From Kozol to the Poisonwood Bible has been an Odyssey of examining our "stories" and the "stories" of others. I hope to view the world from another prospective.

Great response Shelia. I think you are so right about the difficulty in teaching other people's children. It is the hardest job I know. It requires much more than knowledge and skill. It requires compassion and love. This class has helped me to be more compassionate and give more love to my students. I try to see it from their perspective when necessary and try not to shut out their stories. It changes your whole outlook on teaching when you begin to do this.

Yes great response Sheila. You girls are so right!! All the readings, discussions, videos, etc. have opened my eyes to a whole new way of looking at things in my classroom. Also, Amie - you are right - educating other people's children is the HARDEST job in the world. It takes ALL of your energy - physically and mentally!! I have enjoyed all the "stories" this semester girls! Good Luck!!
