This story still fascinates me. There is an article (if you can't find it, I have copies for tonight's meeting) about Jane Elliot at www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/ ... usade.html. She talks about how she's done this exercise all over the world, and the many responses she gets. There was an interesting exercise that I had to do for another class--it's available at teachingtolerance.org>examine your role>test for hidden bias. You can complete it on your computer and it calculates whether you may have hidden biases. I took it, and found some of the results surprising. |

Thanks! I've saved the page to favorites and plan to spend more time exploring. I hope the computers at school can play the video. I'm sure the teachers that I work with would like to see the lady that we have all heard so much about. It seems strange that everyone talks about the lesson but no one has shown the video until now!
