I'm not so sure I exactly liked this article. I believe Delpit was speaking from her opinion. I had too many questions when I finished reading. She spoke of different ways to teach children of color but didn't offer any suggestions. I still don't think there is a different way of teaching students of different races. I think there is a different way to teach all students. In a class of 20 each one is an individual. Your instruction will have some facet that touches them all.[/b]

I think I understand your point of view. I too am uncomfortable with teaching different students in diffferent ways.

Brent,
The whole focus in Surry County right now is differentiation. I think the way you are looking at the classroom is on target. It is the only way we will enable our kids, who generally fall through the cracks, to succeed. If your'e modifying for the individual then keep it up! :)
