We discussed in another class what we would say to the people in power if we had the opportunity. After thinking about, I'm still not sure, but why do the people who make national, state and local decisions concerning education have little to no experience in the field of education. They think they understand and know what's best when they haven't a clue about what goes on in the classroom or in the faculty lounge before school begins. What can we as teachers of tomorrow do to educate these leaders so they understand the need we have for education and their support in our endeavors to teach our students?

In order for us to get recognition in the classroom from those in power, I belive that we need to have those in power actually spend time in a classroom, most notably our local school boards. If those in parents could become "students" for a time, I believe this would go a long way. However, I must ask where would they fit this in to their schedules as they are busy with matters that affect many people.

I think the most effective way that our leaders can learn what we really need is by listening. If they would consider our thoughts and needs as a school and group of teachers the decisions made would reflect what really needs to happen. By listening to what really is going on and not what they think is going on better choices will be made.
