No this isn't some porn ad, but I read this article the other day and have seen many more like it. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7378833/ What do you think of this issue? What do you think we can do to curb the behavior and/or mentality. |

WOW! what an extreme and popular topic in the recent news! This is one of those touchy educational topics and one must wonder how much say or influence an educator has on students concerning this issue. In a way, I think this leads back to the core topic of sex ed in the schools and do we teach it, and do we teach safe sex or abstinance, or do we leave it up to the parents to teach their kids? Is it our responsibility to teach this topic? Do kids listen when it is taught? At first glance and response, according to my experience in school, I believe that abstinence should be encouraged but I know that times have changed since I was in school. This is still a boggling question that I'm not sure I have an answer for but I am interested in what others think. |

I want to say that its crazy kids this young are doing these kinds of things, but then again, I know how it was at my high school too. I would not be suprised at all if more high schools are like this all over the country. I think that especially in small towns, where there is nothing to do, this kind of stuff is what they do. I really don't think that there is a way to curb these behaviors. When it comes to sex education, I think that if parents would just talk to their kids and be honest with them, maybe we wouldn't need sex ed in schools. I know many kids that learned about sex for the first time, in sex ed. This is kind of sad, sad only because parents aren't willing to talk to their kids about this subject. Its not easy to do, and I would hope that I would be able to talk to my kids about sex, that way they wouldn't be hearing this stuff, for the first time, in school. |
