I was curious what you all thought of the comment that Peter made about Americans "being blind in one eye". Do you think that Americans as a truly believe that there is a seperation of church and state? Or do we simply live with the hypocricy, valuing the idea, but incapable of making such a seperation due to relious convictions.

I believe that the idea of separation of church and state is impossible. You can never separate someone's beliefs whether they be religious or spiritual from their self. I believe that one's convictions are a huge part of who they are. When someone merely speaks, I believe that you can be aware of their beliefs or it is human nature to at least ponder this. I was watching the president's address the other night and thought of this. President Bush made numerous references to God and prayer and talked of how he prays in church for the troops and so on. I am not saying that this isn't good but it is not separation of church and state.
