Let's say you have a child from a migrant family in your classroom who barely speaks English if at all and you know will probably only be in your classroom a few months. Are you going to give this child your all, including working with him/her during your lunch period and after school? Or, are you going to not worry about this child's education since he/she probably won't be there very long and a few months won't make that much of a difference when they probably don't understand you anyway? I know you all know the correct, but really think about this when you have a class full of twenty other students who need you as well.

as teachers we will all have the most impact on students' lives when we think we aren't. you might think that in these few months with this child you won't reach him, that he won't be able to understand you and that your efforts are futile. but even the fact that someone is trying to help him or her, someone is reaching out to him or her, could change the kid's life forever. sometimes the smallest actions are the most important.
