This may not directly apply to the grade levels that y'all are wanting to teach, but I think that it could be somehow relevant. I was told recently by a current kindergarten teacher that the school is trying to do away with naptime. Now, I personally think that is crazy. At that age, they need a nap and some time just to calm down. However, the school seems to think that they need more time to learn to read and write. So, applying that to all grade levels, do you think that the schools are going to far with strict academics? Do you think that they should be taking out art, music, etc. to teach more core curriculum and in more depth? What about just little break times, like naptime or breaks between classes in high school? Or, what about the shortened lunchtime? What do y'all think about all the time cuts?

Shoot, I'm one of those who thinks there should be nap time in ALL grades! School can be so stressful and there are so many extra curricular activities and homwork assignments, students are often tired half way through the day. I think a thirty minute nap after lunch would definatly help a lot of students. I think that Kindergarteners through third graders should have that time set aside for naps, and fourth through eighth graders can choose to nap, or read, or do homework or something. Highschool students should also be able to nap, or get extra help, or do homework. There is definatly too much structure and "rigidity" (if that's a word) in school. Naps for everyone!!

I think the students would perform better if they have an opportunity to rest. They may heve problems at home and it would give them the opportuity to rest peacefully. It also gives them time to rest emotionally. It is hard trying to get along with 20 other kids all day.

I think that naptime is an important thing for younger students. They have a much shorter attention span and this affects their learning capabilities. Naps are good, even for ADULTS! I think they should still be used in the lower grades.

Naps are a must when you are talking about those lower grades. Everyone should be able to take a nap so you can rest and then refocus for the rest of the day. Naps should stay!!!!!
