While reading the article "A Question of Class" by Dorothy Allison I could not help thinking her discussion about power in the classroom sounded a lot like hidden descrimination. She commented that students and teachers in the minority must accept that a few have the power and those who do not should either try to conform to their ways or figure out how to tip - toe around it. This reminded me of the philosophy DuBois had towards equal rights for his race which was to try and pacify a group of senators in Atlanta by asking them to give his people industrial jobs and that they still new their place but only wanted to do slightly better.
