I'm sure that at the time it was purely coincedental, but did anyone catch the irony in the opening scene of the Emmit Till video?

BATES MOTEL-For Colored

I just happened to catch my eye.

I doubt it was an accident--there is very little on an edited film that isn't supposed to be there for some reason. Think about that the next time you watch anything. If it gets onto the screen, someone (editor, producer, influential actor, ect) wants it there and it has an effect upon the piece.

I noticed, and I do not believe it was an accident. It was probably put in to get some kind of reaction, which it did apparently.

Chuck, I did not notice the sign either. It makes me wonder if there wasn't some other message they were trying to send. Heather

Yes, I did notice, and I feel it was not coincidental. The sign was included in the film to emphasize the way things were and to remind the viewer just how separate everything was between the races.

The murder of Emmett Till was in Aug of 1955. The original Psycho movie by Alfred Hitchcock was in 1960. I am not sure when photage of the movie containing the sign was shot, but I think it could have been a coincidence.

I did not catch that Chuck. I definitely do not think that was accidental. There were probably other "hidden" messages in the video as well.

I felt the sign was there on purpose as a warning to let black people know what would happen to them if they went there. I think it was a racist way of saying no blacks allowed.
