Was anyone influenced by our class discussion? Can you see Nathan in a different light at this point? |

I don't believe that Nathan is the monster we tend to think he is. Yes he was abusive, and that is unacceptable. However, I do think he believed he was doing what God had called him to do. I think he honestly believed that everything was going to be alright and God would watch over them all. He was very ineffective as a missionary and did not take the time to get to know the people he was working with, but I don't think that was his purpose. He wanted to save numbers for God. As many as possible. When we look at how he was effected by the War, I hope that helps us to understand him a little better. |
