I am struck by the high degree of Faith that anyone who launches into the unknown must possess. Kingsolver presents us with a family that seems to have little choice but to follow the reverend to Africa, yet each possess a strong faith to assume their role and to follow his lead.
Also I consider the faith that the tribe exihibites as the meet, greet and welcome the strangers. They are displaying openness and trust to allow such a dominate and outspoken man into their group. They celebrate the families arrival. Where will their Faith lead and will it sustain them?
