In class we have made reference to stealing and how it my not be stealing if one needs the things that badly. This was also referended to in The Poisinwood Bible. What do you think about this matter?

Justifying wrong-doing does not make it right. When you think of children who really have reasons for what they do that is wrong, they seem to think that their reason or excuses justify their actions. In administering consequences to students, you have to decide if you are going to go by the book or look at other circumstances. However, it just does not always make it right. There are circumstances that make all of us do things that we know are wrong. However, we can not say that it's ok.

A true thief, no matter how much he or she already has, can justify anything he or she steals.

Stealing is wrong, but when faced with your own mortality what do you think? If you're hungry, or even worst if your kids are hungry, would you ask the question is this wrong? Or would you by any means neccessary get food?

Jacquita made a valid point but I think her reference is to survival. Even a person with the highest moral standing would do anything possible to survive a difficult situation.

I agree Candice. I think the Katrina disaster proved that. People getting food to survive for their children by any means possible. Is this different from hauling off TVs etc? I think so.
