Did anyone else get really excited about what MLK said to those preachers?
Now, as a religious/spiritual person, I have a lot of respect for ministers/clergy, but one thing that really gets my goat is when religious leaders refuse to make changes that are more Christian than what they were doing before.
I have often lamented Prostant attitudes towards Catholics, because we are all Christians, and to me the same thing happens with blacks and whites: we are all human beings.
As far as how this connected to teaching, I believe that we, as teachers, often view people who come in and try to reform the schools as being extremists, but we need to be open to understanding their point of view. We need to have dialogue (not monologue) with people, even when we don't agree with them, because that is how GOOD changes get made.
