The history of Native Americans (which depending on the person includes central and South America) can be viewed as the greatest atrocities every committed. Some believe that European actions towards natives has been the most successful genocide ever. What is worse is that all people living in the U.S. are a part of it. As for the assimulation of native children into the dominant culture was a must. If natives did not assimulate they would end up as their ancestors did, dead.

I agree with your statement as it being one of the most successful genocides ever. The thing that baffles me is what a peaceful, loving, and accepting culture this is, even after all that they have been through as a group of people. Many of the Native Americans I have come into contact with blow me away by their calmness and serenity that they exude to others. It is a very positive energy to be around, and it is absolutely tragic to hear the details of the mass killings they have suffered throughout history.
