After completing the book, I thought there was a lot of foreshadowing. The whole mamba snake thing, the marriages, Nathan's death. What did you all think?

If you really paid attention, all the major events were foreshadowed. I wonder if you went back and reread the book would you pick up on it even more? Cindy - did this happen for you?

Yes, Jamie, it was uncanny and kind of spooky reading it the second time and knowing what their futures foretold.

I have enjoyed reading it the second time even more than the first. The connections to Ishmael are also very strong. Kingsolver must have read that book or else is very much aligned with Daniel Quinn.

Cindy, I saw connections between Poisonwood Bible and Ishmael also.
Jamie and Deborah, I agree: There was lots of foreshadowing used. I noticed things that made me start predicting events early in the book. I also noted many metaphors. I image it is a book I would read a second time.

Yes...I also noticed the foreshadowing. The words of Orleanna helped to predict several of the major events in the book.
