Post subject:  Mr. Bigelow's hope for change

Mr. Bigelow sounds like an amazing teacher. He exposes his students to topics that many teachers would not think of ever talking about in their classrooms. Mr. Bigelow is teaching his students to be advocates for social change. By getting his students involved in the child labor issue, Mr. Bigelow is helping his students see another aspect of our society that stikes up controversy. The poems that some of his students wrote about the sweatshops were very touching. They were very sincere and you can tell that these students really cared about this subject. I think it is great for teachers like Mr. Bigelow to show high school students another side to society that doesn't get much consideration. Exposing these kinds of situations fives students something to fight for and care about. Everyone has the power to encourage change and these students worked together for change and made a difference.

jordan, i totally agree with you- what an amazing teacher- really got the students to think and put themselves in another person's shoes- and care about others.
