After reading A Hope in the Unseen, what is your opinion now of affirmative action?

I still feel the same.I am a proponent of doing everything in our power to help people get out of a poor situation,be it black, white, whatever.I do think affirmative action should be geared more towards class than race.

Reading this book really helped me put a face on affirmative action. Seeing Cedric's struggle to get an education made me realize even more that the playing field is still far from level. What ways, though, could you measure someone's potential and work ethic instead of just measuring scores of their present knowledge? In Cedric's case with the summer camp, it should have been obvious to the professor that Cedric had the capacity and commitment to learn, just through his improvement in that short amount of time.
