I was just wondering if any of yall think we are getting enough education for special needs children. I know with my Business Ed major they have not done enough to prepare me. All of us will have at least one special needs students in our class every year. How are you going to handle the difference in learning strategies of these students?

I know I've thought about this topic a lot. I'm an elem. ed. major and I really don't think my program prepares me enough for the challenges I will face in my classroom. I took an intro. to special ed. class last semester as an elective just so I could get a little more exposure to some of the issues surrounding special education. My professor at the time told me the reason that there is not a required special ed. course is because there is no room for the class in the current education program.

I can think of a few classes it could replace.
