It was interesting to note that in Chaper 2 nearly everyone whether they pushed for IQ testing or not, had one thing in common. That was that even though there were considerably fewer Americans being educated in high school or college than there is today, the expansion of education was not being advocated. They were only interested in the selection of a few. More important was reforming a handful of high schools in the country rather than trying to make sure all Americans could benefit from education. Today, in the quest to make sure all Americans benefit from education, much more emphasis is put on reforming the struggling student who perpetually stays 2-3 grade levels behind, and who would probably benefit better from a different style of education.
