In the film we watched in class on thursday, we definitely were introduced to a huge problem economic and racial. However I thought about it some and there were some comments from teachers, one saying that he was a legacy and so he knew where those kids were coming from and then another saying he had risen above his birth status. I was just curious as teachers how we can respond the ever present battle between differences. If you were in that classroom with the art critic and Jo, how could you make that constructive? How do we encourage but not discrimante? How do we help students find there place but also appraciate others? I think the battles being faught by the students at this school will be present in our classrooms and as teachers what role can we play?
