Next semster I am going to be in block one. I know many of you have been in block one and maybe in block two. I am getting very nervous about the practicum. I am a special education major so from what I hear the last 5 weeks of class I will be going to an elementary school everday. I am nervous the kids want like me? They want listen to me? They will think I am a joke? Am I suppose to dress up? All kinds of things are running through my mind. Does anyone have any helpful advice that may help me stop being nervous!?

I am in Block 1 right now and I had the SAME exact worries that you did. I had this huge hesitation/intimidation over my shoulders that I was going to be a shitty teacher, the children wouldnt like me, that I wouldnt be able to teach things to the point that they could learn it, etc. Because you are special ed. and Im elementary, your block might be different, but this was how ours was. You pick which days you want to do block on. It can either be a monday/wednesday or tuesday/thursday. Those days, you are in the same classes with the same people. When you go to the schools to work, it is the last 5 weeks but it is only on the days that you have block. The days you go, ASU charters you there and yes, you have to dress up. It makes you feel like a teacher :) You will love the kids and the hesitation will fall, I promise. I have just finished working at the schools and I swear, I absolutely loved it. It was a wonderful experience and Im sure that you will enjoy it also. Hope that helps!!
