First I must say I did enjoy this book. It was easy to read and I appreciated the author's sense of humor. However, I was a little turned off by a comment she made at the beginning of the third chapter, page121. "But warnings about the heat and the allergies put me off, not to mention that the Latinos might be hogging all the crap jobs and substandard housing for themselves, as they often do." I'm sure this was her humor coming out, but I'm not sure that comment was appropriate in this story. Although she may not have a large Latino audience I would be offended by this comment if I was Latino. Am I being to sensitive or am I reading the author wrong?

I don't think you are being too sensitive, Sherrie. That was an offensive, derogatory comment about a specific ethnic group. I don't particularly care for her obnoxious sense of humor.
