Do you allow yourself to be open to other's opinions? I find that I am very opinionated and outspoken (you have probably noticed). Still, I try to remain willing to hear the other side; oftentimes I am persuaded to alter my own beliefs. I almost wish we were given a survey about our opinions about the world and education before we started this class and again at the end of this class because I am sure my answers would have changed. What do you think?
PS: I am trying to add a poll here, and I am not sure if it will work

I can't say for sure if my world view has changed. I think I change my views constantly, and having been in the masters program for 1 1/2 years, I've been exposed to a lot I hadn't been shown before. . . I do think that I leave every class meeting or after reading a new book that I have a different perspective. I was lucky growing up to have friends with a variety of backgrounds both ethnic and religious. . .
I do not watch the news as much as I should because I get depressed trying to absorb and decipher all the negativity and slant of the various news organizations.
I try to teach my children that all people have different backgrounds and to listen for their reasons and beliefs before jumping to conclusions. I do feel overpowered, especially being reminded of the schools in Kozol's books, and after reading Unseen.

I don't think that my overall world view has changed. I think that is just too big of a view to completely be changed. However I will say that I understand many more things about the way we live as a society, our goverment ways, and out basic way of life... but just because I have learned more about these subjects doesn't mean that my overall view has changed... I don't know... what does everyone else think?
