I am about 200 pages into The Poisonwood Bible. I find that I enjoy reading some chapters from certain character's perspectives more than other characters. I like Orleanna's chapters the best. Which character's chapters do you like the best and why?

I truely love Adah's prespective on things, however I don't believe that I "relate" to her. I found myself smiling everytime I got to one of her chapters. Also, Ruth May was very intresting at times. Her perspective brought the whole "through the eyes of a child" light into the picture. I just have the last few chapters to read tonight but so far... those would be my picks.

I like Adah and Leah the best, specifically Leah. I do identify with her struggles. On the other hand, Rachel it is Rachel, right? It's been awhile since I finished the book.) I find her character a lot less believable and much less realistic. My guess is that she is the furthest cry from the author's personality. Her shallowness and lack of depth make a difficult character to portray, especially sympathetically.

For some reason I really had trouble seeing the world through Adah's eyes. It took me about 3/4 of the book to grow to like her chapters. What did you think about her disability being in her head? I loved the part about her sometimes limping around her house when she was alone - in an attempt to remember who she used to be.

I laughed alot while reading Rachel's accounts when she was younger. Her sarcasm was so true-to-life. Can you imagine moving to Africa mid-way through your teenage years? Reading her perspective gave a lot of insight into what the family was going through. Reading her accounts as an adult, I felt sad to see the person she became.

I think I like Orleanna's chapters the most too, Rachel is far to self absorbed and egotistical for me to handle. I feel for Leah because she so desperately wants to please her maniacal (spelling?) father - and I really like Adah's persepective - her cynicism and her way of looking at things from a distance, like she's set herself apart from everyone else.
