Being future public school teachers, would anyone consider sending their children to private school, whether secular or not?

Personally, I do not think that it would be my first choice to send my child to private school. I was raised in a public school, and yes, I think that there are things that are "dangerous" about the public school and things that I know I will be scared to let my child experience, but I also do not believe in completely sheltering my child from the real world. Private schools do have thier upsides, but I think that I would rather my child be surrounded by diversity that is not chosen through a committee. I would rather my child see people of all races, genders, economic levels. This is the place that I am choosing to spend the rest of my life, and I hope that I never become so worried about our public schools that I am scared to send my child into one.

I do not believe I would send my child to a private school unless an issue concerning my child arose. I spent my entire education in public schools and I plan on teaching in public schools. The interaction between students from diverse backgrounds is very beneficial and I believe it helps our children to become more accepting of those who are different from themselves.

However, I would never completely rule out a private school. Growing up I had a family friend who was constantly bullied, picked on and beat up. His parents ended up sending him to a private school. I think they made the best decision for their child who was clearly in danger in his public school setting.
