After an entire semester talking about racy issues I was wondering if anyone ever thought they were discriminated against. Whether it was based on race, gender, wealth, social status, personal appearance, opinions / points of view or just because somebody didn't like you or you weren't the popular kid or maybe because you were the popular kid etc. . . . We have seen plenty of examples of other people being discriminated against but I think this is something that occurs all the time. |

I remember when I was about 7 and was on a co-ed soccer team. We were practicing some drills and while waiting in line this little boy told my friend and I that we couldn't play sports because we were girls. Discrimination at age 7! I don't think I have ever been discriminated against so much that I was seccluded from something or seriously harmed in any way...luckily. |

Yes I most certainly think I have been at certain times in my life. I relate to Susanne with this very much. I had played baseball on a pretty much all boys team up until 4th grade. It was that year that they told me I could no longer play with the boys. In fourth grade an all boys league started and I had to move to playing softball with the ladies. At that point in my life I was sure I was going to be the first woman to play pro baseball and I wanted to marry Chipper Jones so it pretty much broke my heart. I have not be scarred by this event, haha, but its sad really. It is still going on..... |
