I work at a daycare and one of my kids has an older brother who goes to Hardin Park. He came in last week telling us that his school went into a lockdown. When I asked him about it, he said that a crazy guy wanted to kill them all, so they were locked into the classroom. I asked the mother what happened. She said that someone who lived in Mountaineer Village sent his girlfriend a message telling her that if she didn't do what he wanted her to, there would be another VT incident. First of all, I live in Mountaineer Village and I didn't hear about any of this. When the mom came in today she told us that in the paper the principal was getting a lot of crap for being so quick to put the school on lockdown. Personally, as a parent or as a teacher, my concern is for the student's safety. If there is even a slight possibility that the students are in any sort of danger, you do what you have to do. What do you think about this?

If the threat was actually as it was explained to you by a parent then I see nothing wrong with the way the principle acted. His actions were based on a concern for the saftey of all the students in the building. Even if it was a false alarm, he still acted like I would hope anyone would.
