Post subject:  Eating Disorders

Today in Psychology of Gender my professor told us that about 1 in 100 college women have an eating disorder and I thought this number was pretty surprising. Its so sad how much pressure girls put themselves under to meet these "standards" that get put out by the media. Tyra Banks is an example of how ridiculous everything is. I mean she is 5 11 and has gone up to a very healthy weight of 160 and is getting slammed by the media about it. She looks good! Does this kind of thing bother anyone else?

Its kinda scary to me because some disorders (I know bolemia for instance) its difficult to tell whether the person is suffering from it. Any girl (and possibly some guys) on campus could be a victim of an eating disorder and you wouldn't know it.

I definitely agree that girls who eat normally and exercise a normal amount can be attractive. I don't really know where this image of extreme thinness came from and I don't know many guys who like that.
