From what I gather, our class seems to be moving toward classrooms that separate students based on background, income and many other factors. Is it not more important to try to eliminate this rather than support it. The racial, class, etc.. background should not be as much of a factor as we are making it out to be. Some of my best friends in school came from homes similar to the one we saw on Tuesday and they are very smart and went on to collage. I have also noticed that in many low income families, there is greater support for each other. The example was a very extreme one and we also have to look at the fact the all teenagers fight with their parents. I felt like the class was bashing aspects of society they have never had any first hand experience with. Did anyone else think this? Lets acknowledge their differences and struggles but not separate them from "normal families."

I agree with you Adam in that this video is showing extremes. I think the best thing we can gather from this video and this discussion is to be aware of the differences in social class that we will incur in our classrooms. We need to recognize the differences and embrace the similarities so that our students are aware of the similarities and don't base their differences just on money or prestige.
