I jsut finished reading the article for todays class and started to wonder if teacher unions were helping or suppressing change in schools? I always thought that teacher unions were a good thing and helped get better benefits and pay for teachers. After reading this article I wonder if they are against major changes in education? I wanted to know what everyone else thought about teacher unions after reading this article and if it changed your view of them?

Yeah, that whole article changed my mind a little about the entire American viewpoint on our education. I don't really know a whole lot about the teacher union or what it has done for our education, so its hard to take this article as a good exploration as to what good the teacher union does for education. I think it is important that the union protect the rights of teachers, but at the same time I do not know what the union has to say about those teachers' students and what the union values in terms of education.
