I was wondering what you all thought about this story of the British lady that let her class name a teddy bear Mohamed? http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/africa/12/03/sudan.teacher/index.html Thats the link to the story. She was convicted of Blasphemy and sentenced to 15 days in jail, but the President pardoned her.

As teachers we have to be careful not to offend anyone, what would you have done in this situation if you were the teacher?

She was in a foreign country so she should have known that you need to follow their rules but I'm sure she thought it'd be harmless to name the teddy bear Mohamed. Also is anyone thinking of teaching abroad?

For us as teachers we always to be aware of our surroundings. Awareness is so important. We need to be aware of school rules and procedures, government rules and procedures, and always be thinking ahead on how our actions affect the community we serve.
