Post subject:  Question about final

I figure that since we are all allowed to work together brainstorming for the final, it'd be okay for me to post a question I have... I remember on like the second or third day of class discussing the two types of freedom and having things written on the board (I think we split into groups for part of this one) but I cannot remember at all what they signify. I reread through the readings for that day but didn't see anything about them. Anyone remember anything more or know where to find the information?

In a discussion style class that makes it so hard to take notes I do think it is poor form that we are asked to recall information from the beginning of the semester without being given any alternative source than the class lecture (which was more of a discussion).

okay here's what i have from brainstorming with several other people and class notes. The two forms are negative and positive freedom.
Negative is freedom from self control. Positive is the potencies inherent in something.

What exactly that means, I'm not sure. But that's how we defined it in class. Just make sure to define it yourself for the final...

I actually did write something down about this question in my notes... the two freedoms are negative and positive. Negative freedom is a lack of restraint and positive freedom is the process of seeking out and going after a goal. That's all I have. I hope this helps.

I also wrote down that an example of negative freedom is when you think about the stereotypical image of teenagers: who want to be free from restraints set by their parents or teachers.

If you look back at the beginning of the posts in the forum we actually discussed it on here!! It is Positive and negative freedom and it is explained more thoroughly in forum responses.

If ya'll are still having trouble with this one there is a way you can search specific words and look back at forum posts for years. At the top of the forum page where the "login" button is, you can click the "search" button and look for forum posts that include any word. It's helped me a lot since I never realized we should have been taking notes during class discussions...

GOOD LUCK!
