I was just curious to see how many people are planning on becoming the head of some club, activity, organization, or sport at school when you start teaching? Do you think you will try to do this your first year, or is it too much to ask a first year teacher to get involved with after school activities? Teachers put a lot of time into their jobs and their students, and I just wanted to know how much time everyone was planning on giving.

I definitely think I would like to be the leader of a club or organization at the school at which I teach. However, I think that I will wait until my first year or two is over before I take on those extra responsibilities. I do not want to agree to too much extra work until I am more settled into my job.

I agree with Erin. I think I would like to get through and year or two without being a leader in something like that so I can get into the groove and figure out how to manage my time wisely. I think taking on an extracurricular activity my first year would overwhelm me and I would get way in over my head.

I'm going all out when I get my job. I can't wait to coach and be the adviser for clubs. I tend to go all out and get really tired but at the end of the day it's what makes me happy...even if I'm dog tired.
