During Practicum, in my placement classroom a boy brought in some kind of a hand held video game system and he lost it. He accused other students of stealing it and the teacher took time through out the day to talk to all the students in her class and then she also asked the other 2nd grade teachers to do a book bag check to see if it was in any of their book bags. The teacher was very frustrated and all she could say to the boy is, "I"m sorry you lost it but it shouldn't have been here in the first place."
What do you do when a student brings something they shouldn't have at school to school and loses it? Do you take the time to look for it or do you just tell them they shouldn't have brought it?
