I just read and interesting article that said that there has been a huge increase in the amount of students who are taking AP classes. However, the vast majority of these students are not up to the same ability level as those that have been placed in them due to grades.
Most of the students that are trying to get into AP classes say they want the class for their college application or resume and not because they want to be challenged. Many teachers are afraid of the impact that this will have on their AP classes and the programs that coincide with them.
I think it is sad that students that really do need to be in a higher class and need the extra challenge are now having to be in classes with students who don't care about the class/being challenged
I was wondering what people's thoughts were on this....
