Thinking upon the diversity celebration, and since we have no class due to it tomorrow, I was thinking about how to incorporate diversity issues in the classroom. I came from a school with maybe 5 minority students in the entire body and so I was never in a class that dealt with race diversity. I know that there is alot of diversity in the classroom other than race, but I was just curious on how we should incorporate the issue of diversity into the curriculum. I am going to be a math teacher, and I feel like I have even less opportunity to bring this material into the class. Does anyone have any ideas and perspective that they would like to share on how to make all students feel welcome, and comfortable in the class, not matter there racial background???
