When the panel was in class on Thursday, the issue of sex education was brought up. We all know that NC teaches abstinence, but if this ever changes, I agree whole-heartedly that sex relating to GLBTQ should be addressed in classes. Students may not know anything about this type of sexual relationship and if they are questioning their sexuality, which many do at this age, they should be well-informed. Safety is key, especially among adolescents who think they are invincible and many take sexual risks. Heterosexual and homosexual education needs to take place in sex education classes because of growing uncertainties and curiosities among young adults and adolescents.
