Over Fall Break I was able to go to New York City, while I was in New York I volunteered at the Pajama Program. The Pajama Program is an organization that provides pajamas and books to children in shelters. Until I volunteered at the Pajama Project, it never really crossed my mind that children might not have something else to wear to bed. It made me think about the students I may have one day. As I was sorting and talking to the director I began to think why would as an educator make sure my students had pajamas or a goodnight book to read at night. As I talked witht the director tears began to come to her eyes just talking about the children, it made think... I hope I am that passionate about teaching as she is about these children. |
