As part of the technology education major, I am part of TECA, a group of technology education students who compete several times a year at competitions hosted around the country. In early November, our TECA chapter attended the TECA East Regional. During this event, we were able to meet and get to know students and educators from several areas of the region, with the potential of nationals later in the year. Many of the schools vary in the events they compete in, some of this is due to funding in their specific region. Diverse backgrounds are also very common, and some of the brightest and most creative products for the events came from these areas. It was very eye-opening to see the variation in funding and the tools available to the different schools from lower socio-economic areas.
